Assistant Controller
Job Description
We are searching for the right candidate to join our team as an Assistant Controller for our Phoenix Division located in Scottsdale, Arizona.
Primary responsibilities:
* To support the V.P. of Finance in providing financial management expertise to the operating division as well as to the corporate financial organization
* Manage the month end close and budgeting process for all joint ventures
* Participate in the monthly Joint Venture partner meetings and present key financial reports
* Ensure that accounting, control, audit and administrative duties are performed effectively and efficiently
* Ensure that financial information is accurately developed, analyzed and reported to management
* Ensure forecasts, project budgets and division budgets are prepared timely and accurately
* Manage, motivate and develop Financial and Administrative staff
* Ensure that corporate financial policies and procedures are adhered to
* Ensure that all corporate and operational reports are submitted accurately and timely
* Assists in the management of information system issues and concerns
* Provide financial assistance to all functional areas as needed
* Responsible for accuracy of financial reports for assigned entities and subsidiaries
Qualifications:
* Certified Public Accountant (CPA) or MBA, active CPA candidacy acceptable
* Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or Finance
* Seven years’ experience in Finance/Accounting
* Accounting experience, preferably in the homebuilding, land development and/or construction industry
* Experience with finance and accounting systems and software
* Knowledge of cost accounting (specifically construction industry)
* Prior experience managing and training accounting/finance personnel
* Computer literacy, including excellent Excel skills
