Employee Relations and Compliance Manager
Job Description
As an Employee Relations and Compliance Senior Manager working for Taylor Morrison you will serve as a strategic advisor and partner to People Operations, department leadership, and Legal. This role provides expert guidance on employee relations matters and compliance with federal, state, and local employment laws and regulations. The Senior Manager plays a key role in shaping policies, procedures, and programs that foster a positive work environment, promote employee engagement, and mitigate organizational risk.
This is a remote position, accepting candidates residing in California, Colorado, and Arizona.
What You’ll Do
- Develop, implement, and maintain employee relations policies and procedures to ensure consistency and compliance with applicable laws and regulations
- Partner with People Operations and any other relevant parties to investigate and resolve complex employee relations issues, including discrimination, harassment, and retaliation complaints, in a timely and effective manner. This includes resolution of all employee complaints generated through the Ethics hotline and various employee surveys
- Serve as a strategic advisor on employee relations matters, providing guidance on performance management, disciplinary actions, and conflict resolution. Final decisions and execution of actions remain the responsibility of People Operations and department leadership.
- Partner with People Operations and Benefits to support employees through the ADA interactive process and leave of absence management by providing guidance and education
- Collaborate with People Services, legal, and management to provide guidance and recommendations on employee relations matters and compliance issues
- Stay abreast of all federal, state, and local employment laws and regulations, and ensure the company handbook is kept updated
- Conduct thorough audits and risk assessments to identify compliance gaps and develop strategies to address and mitigate risks
- Serve as a liaison between the company and outside legal counsel and government agencies, such as the EEOC and the Department of Labor, in the event of investigations, audits or subpoenas
- Maintain accurate records and documentation of employee relations investigations, actions taken, and compliance efforts
- Stay current with changes in employment laws and regulations and provide updates to senior management and other stakeholders as needed
- Maintain discretion, confidentiality and security of all employee and proprietary company information, while always operating in an unbiased, high integrity, respectful manner that builds trust at all levels and demonstrates a sensitivity for cultural differences
- Leverage business knowledge, internal metrics, and industry trends to proactively identify potential employee relations concerns and promptly escalate risks to management
- Partner with People Operations to design and implement proactive, positive employee relations programs, including leadership training, conflict resolution resources, and early intervention strategies
- Investigate and track all Employee Relation concerns utilizing our ER Case Management System, NAVEX.
- Create and report on KPIs that reflect the health and effectiveness of employee relations practices
- This role is expected to evolve over time and may expand to include broader responsibilities in employee relations strategy and compliance leadership, depending on organizational needs

You might be just who we’re looking for if you have
- Bachelor's degree in human resources, business administration, or a related field; advanced degree and SPHR/SHRM-SCP certification preferred
- Minimum of 5 years of progressive experience in employee relations and compliance
- In-depth knowledge of federal, state, and local employment laws and regulations, including FMLA, ADA, FLSA, and EEO with proven experience supporting compliance across multiple states
- Proven track record of successfully investigating and resolving complex employee relations issues
- Excellent communication, interpersonal, and conflict resolution skills
- Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities
- Ability to maintain confidentiality and handle sensitive information with discretion
- Previous legal experience preferred
- Experience using NAVEX or a similar employee relations case management and reporting platform is strongly preferred
- Demonstrated ability to effectively partner with cross-functional teams-including People Operations, Legal, and department leadership-by providing guidance and expertise on employment matters without assuming sole ownership of decisions or outcomes
FLSA Status: Exempt
Salary Range: $104,010 - $150,820 annually
Bonus Eligible: up to 20% Annual Incentive Plan (AIP)
Will have responsibilities such as:
- Office or non-manual work, which is directly related to management or general business operations
- Act as a primary component of which involves the exercise of independent judgment and discretion about matters of significance

- Ability to sit or stand for long periods of time and move around work environment as needed
- Ability to operate a motor vehicle

Physical Demands:
- Must be able to able to remain in a stationary position up to 50% of the time
- The ability to frequently lift and/or move up to 10 pounds and occasionally lift and/or move up to 25 pounds
